The Katherine Town Council’s Anzac Day commemoration activities in and around the Katherine CBD will necessitate road closures on April 24th and 25th 2024.
The Council organises the event in collaboration with RAAF Base Tindal and the Katherine RSL Sub-Branch. It includes a dawn service at the Cenotaph and a community march down Katherine Terrace.
Changed traffic conditions include:
- Closure of a northbound section of the Stuart Highway and the Victoria Highway during the Anzac Day march from approx. 8.50am to 9:40am.
- The closure of carparking on Katherine Terrace and a portion of Railway Terrace is from 9pm on the evening of April 24th until the march finishes on April 25th.
Variable speed signs will be placed on Katherine Terrace to ensure the safety of everyone crossing the main road during the event, and Council urges everyone to take extra care while crossing roads.
The Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics, The Northern Territory Police, and Territory Traffic Management will assist with the traffic management.
