Join the Library
Membership is free to residents of the Northern Territory. You will need to provide the library with proof of your current Northern Territory residential address and photo ID.
Acceptable ID include:
- Current NT driver’s license showing Northern Territory address;
- Or photo ID with the following:
- Account from Government Department or Utility eg. PowerWater or telephone bill
- Centrelink, Pension of Health Care Card
- Tenancy Agreement
- RAAF Dependants Card
Reciprocal Membership
Katherine Public Library is a member of the Connect NT network. All current Northern Territory public library membership cards are accepted at Katherine Public Library, and Katherine Public Library membership cards may be used at any Northern Territory public library.
Temporary Membership
For non-residents, a $60 refundable deposit is required. Identification that includes a current residential address. People under 18 years of age require the signature of a parent or legal guardian.
Online Membership Only - Borrow Box
Online membership provides access to online collections, including eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and online databases, as well as use of library computers without requiring proof of residential address. This membership does not allow for borrowing items from the library collection. Online members can upgrade their membership to Adult or Child memberships for full borrowing privileges upon presenting an acceptable photo ID and proof of permanent NT residential address. Apply for your Library Membership
According to the NT Information Act, we require your consent to securely store your personal data outside of the Territory for the purposes of library business only.
When applying for a library membership you are authorising permission for personal data for myself and my dependents:
- to be stored outside the Northern Territory and, where required, Australia
- to be stored securely; and
- for the purposes of library business only, in accordance with the Information Act and Information Privacy Principles for the collection and handling of personal information.
