Katherine Town Council has announced the winners of this year’s Annual Christmas Lights Competition. The competition attracted nine nominations, bringing Katherine’s streets to life with festive joy and sparkle.
Judges, Mayor Lis Clark, Deputy Mayor Denis Coburn and Councillor Peter McDougall, cruised Katherine suburbs, evaluating displays for creativity, design and colour, before awarding the residential winners:
- 1st Place: Jinson Antony, Inskip Crescent
- 2nd Place: Kathleen Baumgarten, Lockheed Road
- 3rd Place: Annlyn Dolono, Callistemon Drive
The judges also made special mention of Mila Sterling at Fordham Court, who hand-made all her decorations.
Turning their attention to our main street businesses, the judges proclaimed Willow Blu as the winner of this year’s Business and Commercial category. The judges also gave a special mention to Nutrien and Rod and Rifle.
Mayor Lis Clark said she and her fellow judges were impressed with how beautifully the entrants brought Christmas spirit and festivity to the community, creating joy for all.
“Congratulations to everyone who nominated.” Mayor Clark said.
“It was a pleasure to judge, and we are grateful for the effort people put into bringing their streets to life.
“I encourage people to follow our Christmas Lights Map, which you can find on Katherine Town Council’s Facebook and web page, to view the displays.
“Hopefully, this year’s nominations will inspire residents to consider entering next year’s competition.”
