Katherine Food Collective: What you said

Katherine Town Council has no doubt how much our community enjoyed the 2023 Katherine Food Collective, with a recent survey identifying overwhelming support for its return in 2024.

The positive feedback was delivered through a recent survey where the Council asked residents what they enjoyed and wanted to see more of at the Katherine Food Collective, which this year transformed the CBD car park into a vibrant outdoor eatery during the dry season.

Survey respondents said the food options were a highlight, with more than 6000 meals served in 2023 and double the number of food vendors.

Katherinites also said they liked “the vibe and atmosphere” and that it was “something different”.

And what do we want more of in 2024? According to the survey, we want the Street Party to return.

The popular family-friendly street party, held in First Street in July 2023, was a collaborative event by the Katherine Town Council and the Katherine Community Association and supported by the NT Government and Activate Katherine. Children enjoyed face painting, a barnyard and fairy floss and slushies.

Respondents said they would also like additional seating options at the Katherine Food Collective and more food vendors.

Council appreciates the community’s input, which will be used to help shape a bigger and better community event next year.
