Council Calls for Centenary Logo Designs

Katherine Town Council will host a monumental, year-long series of celebrations in 2026 to mark 100 years since the establishment of Katherine as an officially gazetted township.
This centenary marks a pivotal moment in Katherine's history. The opening of the railway bridge in 1926 enabled the Emungalan business community and its residents to move across the river and lay the foundations for the town we know today.
As the first step in these celebrations, the Council has launched a Centenary Logo Design Competition, inviting residents, schools, local organisations, and Indigenous groups to create a logo that reflects the town’s rich history and unique identity.
"This competition is an opportunity for the community to come together and design a logo that represents our shared journey and the contributions of all who have shaped Katherine, including the Aboriginal custodians of the region," said Mayor Lis Clark.
The Council encourages creativity and welcomes designs in various styles, from modern to traditional or a blend of both.
