Katherine, Australia - The Joy of Many Colours Katherine Multicultural Festival is back to celebrate the vibrant tapestry of cultures that enrich life in our region. Organized by the Australian Red Cross's Connected Women group and supported by the Katherine Town Council and NT government, this eagerly anticipated event promises a day filled with colour, flavour, and cultural appreciation.
Scheduled to take place at the Katherine Y in the sports ground precinct, this free, family-friendly festival will run from 3 pm to 8 pm on Sunday, 26 May 2024. Attendees can look forward to indulging in a myriad of multicultural experiences, including food, fashion, and entertainment, all aimed at fostering connections and celebrating diversity.
The festival will feature four main components:
- Multicultural Fashion Show: Over 70 models will grace the runway, representing diverse nationalities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
- Multicultural Food Expo: With over 100 cuisines from more than 25 nationalities on offer, attendees will embark on a culinary journey around the world.
- Multicultural Show: Showcasing 15 captivating cultural performances curated by migrants, First Nations, and the wider community, this segment promises to enchant and inspire.
- Family Fun Activities: From mesmerizing music to interactive cultural games and children's activities like jumping castles, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
Katherine Town Council Mayor, Lis Clark, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, "The Joy of Many Colours Katherine Multicultural Festival is one of the most popular on Katherine’s busy events calendar. It’s an excellent opportunity to interact and appreciate the many different cultures that make up our region."
Sabeeha Nihad, Red Cross State Manager, emphasised, "This event prioritises inclusivity and puts people at the forefront. We envision it as a vibrant celebration that will enrich our beautiful Katherine community with even more cultural diversity.
