Enjoy a bacon and egg sandwich and catch-up with mates at Katherine’s Great Northern Clean Up on Saturday October 8.
“It’s a great day to get out and see friends and clean up Katherine while we’re at it,” Katherine Mayor Lis Clark said.
From 7.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., Katherine Town Council staff will be serving breakfast sandwiches at Ryan Park, providing calories for residents cleaning up the banks of our Katherine River.
“The idea is to clean up the riverbank before the wet hits,” Mayor Clark said. “We don’t want rubbish getting into the waterways or drains. It makes a big difference when everyone pitches in on these days.”
To get involved, show up to Ryan Park at 66 Katherine Terrace, where you can register and receive a garbage bag and gloves. Ensure you apply sunscreen, wear a hat and closed shoes and bring a water bottle. There will be a refill station and sunscreen available.
On top of the cooked breakfast tempting residents out on a Saturday morning, there will also be free cold drinks, ice blocks, vouchers for a free ice cream from The Meeting Place and prize giveaways for Peakabrew Café, Intersport Katherine and Cinema 3 passes.
“It’s a great family event that also educates our youngsters and the community on pride of place,” Mayor Clark said. "We hope to see you there."
